Title: House Speaker Calls for Secret Service Director’s Resignation Following Trump Rally Shooting

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., is demanding accountability from Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle after the recent attempted assassination of former President Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania. Johnson questioned Cheatle’s decision to appear at the Republican National Convention (RNC) on Wednesday night, stating that he does not understand her decision-making process and believes she is unfit to lead at this critical time.

Johnson, the highest-ranking official to call for Cheatle’s resignation, is commissioning a bipartisan task force with subpoena power to investigate the security failures that allowed a 20-year-old gunman to fire shots near the rally perimeter. He emphasized the importance of accountability and swift answers to prevent the spread of conspiracy theories.

Despite a call with Cheatle and FBI Director Christopher Wray offering limited insight, Johnson expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of answers provided. He criticized President Biden’s decision to appoint Cheatle, suggesting that her focus on diversity efforts within the Secret Service detracted from critical security measures.

The speaker’s office is working to schedule a classified briefing on the shooting next week, as they continue to push for transparency and accountability in the wake of the tragic incident. Fox News Digital reached out to the Secret Service for comment, but has not received a response.
