According to the Official Charts Company, the Pennsylvania-born star has become the first female artist to hold both the number one and number two positions on the singles chart for three consecutive weeks.
Her hit songs “Please Please Please” and “Espresso” have dominated the charts, with “Please Please Please” remaining in the top spot this week. Interestingly, “Espresso” actually recorded slightly more streams than its counterpart, despite being in second place.
Both songs will be featured on Carpenter’s upcoming album “Short ‘n Sweet,” which is set to be released in August. This achievement puts Carpenter in a league with music legends like The Beatles, Justin Bieber, and Ed Sheeran, who have also achieved similar chart success in the past.
In addition to Carpenter’s record-breaking feat, other artists have seen a boost in sales following their performances at the recent Glastonbury Festival. Dua Lipa, SZA, and Shania Twain all experienced a surge in album sales, while Coldplay’s new track climbed to a new peak on the singles chart.
