An 18-year-old student tragically lost his life after being shot multiple times by another student outside Bowie High School in Texas. The incident occurred around 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday near a portable building on campus, prompting the school to go on lockdown.
Authorities arrived at the scene to find the victim lying unresponsive with gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, the student succumbed to his injuries. The suspected shooter, a 17-year-old, attempted to flee but was apprehended by police near the campus. He will face murder charges once booked into Arlington City Jail.
The Arlington Police Department emphasized that such violence is unacceptable in the community and schools. Chief Al Jones stated, “Violence is never the right answer. We will continue to work with Arlington ISD to ensure our schools are safe spaces for learning.”
Families were directed to reunite with their children at a district building following the tragic incident. Dallas ISD also extended their condolences to Bowie High School and the Arlington ISD community during this difficult time.
